Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us by phone at 613 612 9580 or at mufferawhomes@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We are located in the Ottawa area and we are proud to be able to serve all of Ontario.

Because the more time-consuming work is done in the shop, our crew of experienced timber framers are able to travel to your site for an efficient installation.

Our more commonly used species are Eastern White Pine and Douglas Fir.

If you do have a specific species in mind, let us know! We are able to access a variety of species.

A lot of timber framers prefer to work from architectural plans provided by the client, but we love being involved from the very beginning. This allows us to work with the architect or designer to develop a well thought out frame and focus on the details that make the difference, right from the start.

If you're planning a build and aren't sure where to start, give us a call! We would love to chat about your project.

Typical scope of work includes design, engineering, prefabrication, installation of the timber frame or log building, and depending on the project, can include roof build up (does not include roofing finish), and building envelope (SIPs).

SIPs are an amazing way to close in a timber frame for a variety of reasons:

  • they are efficient to install
  • they create a tight building envelope with good R-value, meaning your building will be efficient to heat and cool
  • they are able to achieve large, unsupported spans which work extremely well with timber frame construction

Check out our main supplier's website for more information on timber frames and SIPs: https://www.insulspan.com/timber-framers/

We work with some amazing engineers who specialize in heavy timber construction and traditional joinery. If your project requires an engineer, don't worry, we've got it covered without compromising on any of the traditional details that make a timber frame a timber frame.
